This fall we spent time in the study “6 Steps to Loving Your Church” & “6 Steps to Encouragement.” At the heart of these studies was the truth that church isn’t just about our individual/personal growth. While it is true that we should be growing at church, one of the primary ways that we can do this is to look at our time together on Sunday mornings as an opportunity to build one another up as disciples of Jesus.
Since our study, I have seen many of you doing this very thing: Praying about where you will sit during the service and looking for God to work in your conversations with others; Sharing what God is teaching you in Scripture or how he has been at work in your lives; praying for one another; being on the look out for how you can help meet the needs of others. It has been exciting to watch God work in and through you!
For the next two months, I want to be intentional about further putting our learning into practice and encouraging others to join in the ministry that we have to one another, so that we can further develop a culture of disciple making each Sunday morning. To give time for this, we will not offer an adult class during our regular CE time (9:45am-10:30am on Sundays). Instead, we will be providing coffee and time to build each other up.
Here are ways that you can get involved…
2. Prayerfully prepare before you come to church each week.
3. Come to church purposefully. Be on the lookout for how God wants to use you to help someone grow as a disciple.
4. Plan to come a little earlier or stick around a little longer to invest in one another each Sunday.
We look forward to what God has in-store as we focus our hearts on him and the ministry that he has given to us to become disciples who make disciples.
“Let us think of ways to motivate one another to acts of love and good works. And let us not neglect our meeting together, as many people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of his return is drawing near.” Hebrews 10:24-25
